ANGELA Fletcher and Esther Petit won the first team prize at Evesham Golf Club ladies’ invitation day.

Thirty-two competitors played the 18-hole stableford including 16 from other clubs.

Fletcher and Petit (Broadway) scored 71 points ahead of Jean Bevan and Elaine Hickin (Broadway) on 63 and Ruth Masters and Lin Andrew (Broadway) on 62.

Individual prizes were awarded to Fletcher in first with 37, Petit in second with 34 and Hickin in third with 33.

Nearest the pin were Andrew and Evesham player Mel Evans.

Meanwhile, a Broadway quartet will represent the club at the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership Club Team Championship stableford area final at Cleeve Cloud on Sunday, June 23.

Richard Broadbridge, Sue Barker, Jack Groves and Irene Hawkes won the club contest to qualify with 90 points.

Geoff and Jen Doran, Phil Bennett and Elaine Hickin got 87, Dave Sadler, Chris Parkinson, Keith Barnes and Brenda Corfield 84 and Bill and Ange Sollis and Barb and Roger Buggin 83.

The ladies’ club round of the County Kitcat Qualifier was over two days.

In the Silver Division, Sue Barker won with 40 points from Lin Andrew on 38, Julia Fortescue on 36 and Vicky Watkins on 35.

The Bronze Division was topped by Judith Noyce with 35 from Veronica Rudd on 34.

Cheryl Senior and Ange Sollis were third and fourth respectively on countback. 

The top six will compete in the finals at Broadway on September 18.

In the men’s medal, Stephen Hinchliff won overall with 66 nett.

Division One was headed by Scott Davis with 67 from Steve Webb with 68 and the lowest gross of 73 and Richard Tate with 69.

Bill Cook won Division Two with 66 from Adam Barnfield on 67 and junior Ambrose Eaves on 68.

Twenty pairs competed in the mixed Barbara Stanley Trophies over a foursomes stableford in tricky winds and rain.

Dereck Buttler and Pat Righton won with 42 points ahead of Ian and Jane Nicholson on 38, Mark and Bev Howard on 37 and Cheryl and John Senior on 37.

The Vale Golf Club seniors played a four-ball stableford attracting 52 players.

George Hilton, Keith Richards, Arthur Collingwood and David Hudson won with 90 points.

Bernard Rayner, Derek Lambert, Tony Hampson and Brian Summers were second on 85 and Mike Richards, David Store, Roger Hawes and Martin Holland third on 84.

Chris Hague, John Jarvis, Bryn Keast and Hamish Whitehead finished fourth on 81.

Nearest the pin on the 14th was Mike Roberts.

The Vale won 5-1 in an inter-club match with Tewksbury Park.
