A NAILBITING cup game saw Herefordshire under-14s clinch victory by two wickets over a Buckinghamshire side who fell one run short of their target in the ECB Cup.
On a good batting wicket, the Herefordshire batsmen reached 196 for eight off their allotted 50 overs with notable batting performances from Harry Sockett (39) and Iolo Bubb who retired hurt just two runs short of his half century on 48.
A crucial quickfire 32 from number seven batsman Jack Barrett helped his side to set a target to challenge their opponents.
In reply Buckinghamshire put on a third wicket stand of 69 which gave them a good start. However, when this was broken by Sockett, Herefordshire took regular wickets. Wickets were shared out between the bowlers: Seb Fell, Sockett and Billy Brind but a crucial last spell by Bubb saw the Buckinghamshire batsmen stumped by Alex Powell needing just one single run.
