REIGNING champions in the GB Liners Marches League Division One, Luctonians made ground on the early leaders after winning the only completed match last weekend.

After losing three of their opening six games Lucs have given themselves a tough task to retain their crown.

However, 23 points won for their four-wicket home win over Garnons while their rivals settled for five for abandonments has put them back in the mix.

Visiting Garnons were put into bat and lost three early wickets through the bowling of Imalka Kankanamalage.

Middle-order batsman Rob Pritchard (21) and Alan Jones (28) boosted their total, but their side were skittled out for 126.

In reply opener James Platford got his side off to solid start hitting 20 before Matt Bengry (34) and Ben George (20) boosted their tally.

An unbeaten partnership of Ben Shaw and Jake Davies saw them over the line.
