THERE were new names in the Wychavon Parish Games’ Parsonson Planning Consultancy petanque final.

Crowle defeated Ashton-under-Hill after a close contest with Evesham North taking third place ahead of Evesham Bengeworth.

Wick and Inkberrow shared fifth place as 16 teams took part with Norton and Lenchwick, Bretforton, North and Middle Littleton, Badsey, Broadway, Sedgeberrow, Eckington, Honeybourne, Wyre Piddle and Fladbury also involved.

The Pershore Bowls Centre bowls will be at Broadway on Monday, August 26.

Eighty-eight runners from 16 parishes took part in the Schloetter Co Ltd cross-country event at Pershore High School.

Andy Train from Fladbury was again the first runner home, closely followed by Sebastian Shaw from Hill and Moor.

In the team event, Ashton-under-Hill finished first with 144 points followed by 2018 winners Sedgeberrow with 190, Fladbury with 200 and Eckington with 204.

Evesham Bengeworth were fifth and Bretforton sixth with Badsey, Broadway, Offenham, Inkberrow, Honeybourne, Wick, Wyre Piddle, Drakes Broughton, Hill and Moor and Harvington also taking part.

The same venue hosted nine teams in the Marshalls Transport rounders.

Wick beat Badsey by 4½-2 and Eckington saw off Sedgeberrow 6-4½ in the semi-finals.

A close final saw Wick retain their title by beating Eckington 8-6½.
