EVESHAM Rowing Club’s junior crews won 13 events on the River Severn at Stourport.

Over the 1,100-metre course singles Euan Woodfin, Matt Oliver and Leah Saunders comfortably outpaced their rivals to win easily.

WJ18 quad Nelly Ledger, Martha Bradley, Charlie Akerman and Becca Parkin beat the home club by four lengths.

Over the 650m sprint singles Woodfin and Oliver again, together with Akerman, Bradley and Duncan Repton, showed skill, strength and determination to beat off quality opposition in their finals.

Coach Ashley Ford saw the youngest team members and doubles partners Saunders with Harriet Empson and Finn Warren with twin sister Phoebe continue this season’s successes.

Ledger and Parkin won their double and then teamed up with Akerman and Bradley who then earned her third win of the competition.

Performing well against strong opposition and reaching finals were runners-up singles Emma Parkin, Sam McClenahan and Bradley, double Will Heslington and Alex Repton and quad Ollie Parr, Duncan Repton, McClenahan and Jack Harris.

Junior coach Jacob Organ said: “In view of the wind and rain these were fantastic performances from all our crews and Dave Parkin towing the trailer deserves a medal too.

“Considering many similar events had to be cancelled due to the weather I am particularly pleased that the youngest rowers won their finals in very tricky conditions with a strong gusty crosswind.”
