DEADEYE Dave Reynolds is poised for a Worcester Raiders cameo against Pershore Town – after being contacted by both derby rivals.

The ex-Worcester City striker left Evesham United this week, prompting a flurry of fans and backroom staff from local clubs to try to lure one of the region’s top poachers via social media.

Reynolds confirmed he has no long-term plans in place yet with invites landing from Raiders and Pershore ahead of the rivals facing off in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

“I think I am going to have a run out for Raiders just to get a few minutes,” said Reynolds.

“Both Pershore and Raiders asked me, it was the toss of a coin really but Raiders said straightaway that they knew I would want to play higher up and would be happy for me to get the game time.

“That’s what I need right now. There is nothing else set in stone yet, I have had contact with a few people but nothing concrete so I just want to focus on playing Saturday and take it from there.

“The most I have played for the past two or three weeks is about 30 minutes so it is all about building up my match fitness.”

Reynolds took to Twitter on Monday to say it was “probably time for a fresh start” with City fans joining calls for his return.

Signed from hometown club Malvern Town in the summer of 2017, Reynolds rattled in 30 goals during his first season before climbing two levels with Redditch United in September 2018.

Things did not quite work out at the Valley Stadium and he returned to Malvern while remaining registered with City, notching twice last season’s Worcestershire Senior Urn final success against Studley.

City boss Ashley Vincent had bemoaned his side’s lack of a finishing touch before snapping up Sean Brain from Coleshill Town who promptly bagged a hat-trick on his debut on Sunday.

“I speak to people socially on occasion but there has been nothing regarding going back,” said Reynolds on the prospect of a City return.

Evesham manager Carl Abbott cited a lack of “chemistry” when confirming Reynolds had left, saying it has been “in his interests to go” to prevent the possibility that “it could end ugly”.

“We spoke and it became clear I wasn’t going to get any game time so that was that, I wasn’t going to hang about,” said Reynolds.

“Sometimes it is just not meant to be and that’s non-league football for you.”

With development work continuing at Claines Lane, Raiders have reversed the match to Pershore’s Community Stadium headquarters.
