COLWALL finally clinched promotion to the Worcestershire League Premier Division on the final day of the season following a five-wicket victory at Pedmore.

Having lost their previous two games, thus handing the title to rivals Bromyard, Colwall needed to win to clinch second place from the gasp of Burghill, Tillington and Weobley.

They eventually sealed second place in Division One despite slumping to 51-5 at one stage in reply to their host’s total of 115 all out.

With the ball Dan Newby took 4-19 as his side took hold of the tie.

Despite losing early wickets in reply Ben Wheeler smashed an unbeaten 47 from 17 deliveries, for his side to cruise home on 116-5.

Meanwhile, Burghill suffered a narrow one wicket defeat against Hagley.

Edward Symonds top scored on 34 as Burghill set a target of 171.

Despite Hamish Cooke taking 4-41 the hosts limped home to record a win.
