WORCESTER City women won their West Midlands League Premier Division opener.

They beat Lye Town 2-1 at the University of Worcester with a Mel Hinton tap-in and last-minute Leannah Rayment header.

Despite goals from Emily Young and Hinton, City then lost 3-2 to Bustleholme in the Worcestershire FA Women's Cup.

The club's under 16s boys are yet to concede in Nerf Junior Premier League Cup Group 13.

Toby Wakefield, Jack Hobbs, Tyler White and Jack Fisher (2) accounted for Cheltenham Town 5-0.

Last season’s JPL national elite champions previously won 2-0 at Stourbridge thanks to Hobbs and Joe Rothery.

The under 15s battled back from 4-1 down to draw at Rushall Olympic with Cian Scott, Toby Lungley, Reece Day and Matt Blake on target.

The under 14s gave an improved display but lost at home to Gloucester City and Rushall Olympic beat the under 13s.

The previous week, the under 14s and 13s lost to Stourbridge and Stoke RTC respectively.

Henry Guy and Kyle Clayton gave the under 12s a 2-0 lead at Stourbridge and City won despite Zac Watkins saving a penalty which was then retaken and dispatched.

The new Midland Junior Premier League under 12s made their bow and put in a spirited display despite injuries reducing them to nine players.  Alfie Smith (2) and Obruche Agbeyi netted in a 4-3 defeat to Alvis Juniors.

They then lost 3-0 to Coventry Sky Blues.

The under 10s and 11s teams both took on Stoke RTC while there was local opposition for City's younger sides including Warndon Villages Pythons, Westbury Celtic Ravens and West Worcester Youth.

Joe Clarke, Tiago Ribeiro, Taylor Cordell and Calum Harper gave the reserves a 4-3 win over Redditch United in the Midland League's Challenge Trophy.

City won 2-1 against fellow Midland Floodlit Youth League pace-setters Alvechurch through Matty Patrick-Rivers and Owen Oxley.
