PERSHORE Tennis Centre secured six Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Closed Championships titles.

Twenty-nine players represented the club at Malvern’s Manor Park club.

Dara Guppy, seven, won the boys’ eight and under singles after seven triumphs including a 10-9 victory in the final.

The 10 and under boys’ doubles went to Theo Houston and George Hadley against fellow Pershore players William Billings and Tom Porter in a three-set final.

Number one seeds Alfie Mills and Jack Bulbulia claimed the 12 and under boys’ doubles after dropping only six games in two matches, winning the final 6-3, 7-5.

Regular winner Caoimhe Guppy was the second seed in the 14 and under girls’ singles but won 6-2, 6-4 against Bethany Pye.

The 18 and under boys’ singles went to Max Hingley who beat Joe Hart 6-3, 7-6 in the final and he also secured the county junior boy of the year award.

Matt Sime and Antony Fordham triumphed in the 18 and under boys’ doubles in a final-set tie-break against Max and Joe Hart.

Sime and Fordham have won the 14, 16 and 18 and under county doubles titles together.

A team award was presented to the 10 and under boys’ county cup group who included Billings and Houston.

The winners also secured some runners-up positions as did Ruth Teale while Maegan Teale made the semi-finals and Tom Randall the last eight.

Lucas Webster, Tim Bisson, Ronan Guppy, Dhruv Dubey, George Billings and James Barnett also competed.

Pershore host a junior schools roadshow on Sunday from 9am.
