JASON Plato finished the Kwik Fit MSA British Touring Car Championship season in style by winning the final race.

The experienced Sterling Insurance with Power Maxed Racing ace followed up 14th and seventh places with his 97th BTCC career victory at Brands Hatch.

Plato said: “The last couple of years have been really awful for me and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this year.

"Never in my career have I got in a car and knew I wouldn’t do well and after two years of thinking exactly that joining PMR has taken me back to how it should be.”

Team principal Adam Weaver said: “What a finish to the most enjoyable season I’ve had in the BTCC.”

Team BMW’s Colin Turkington was crowned a record-equalling four-time BTCC champion.

Halfords Yuasa Racing’s Dan Cammish won the first race before Adrian Flux Subaru Racing’s Ash Sutton scored his first victory of the season.

The title fight went down to the wire in Kent with Turkington sixth in the finale to claim the honours after Cammish had to retire due to brake failure.
