PERSHORE Tennis Centre enjoyed plenty of success at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire LTA annual awards and league presentations.

Head coach Steve Bauer was handed the disability programme of the year accolade at Worcestershire CCC for encouraging wheelchair users and players with Down syndrome and visual impairment to enjoy the sport.

Winter title wins for the women's A and B team teams and the men's B side were marked along with summer league crowns for the men's B, women's B and mixed A groups.

The club could be recognised at a regional and perhaps national level early next year when they go up against other county winners.

Club chairman and women's A team captain Sarah McCormick said: “Another great night for PTC.

"We have so much to be proud of, in particular the successes of our men’s, ladies and mixed teams and the well-deserved recognition by H&W for Steve Bauer and his disability programmes.”

Bauer said: “I am delighted that we have been recognised again this year for making tennis accessible for all.

"We are a very open club and welcome all to take lessons whatever your ability.”
