EVESHAM United maintained their unbeaten home record in BetVictor Southern League Division One South.

The Robins edged out third-from-bottom Willand Rovers 1-0 at the Jubilee Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Since drawing the home league opener against Paulton Rovers in August, Evesham have seen off Slimbridge 4-3, Winchester City 2-0, Mangotsfield United 4-0 and now Willand.

The Jubilee form has helped Evesham, who are without a game this weekend, to fourth place in the table.

Paul Sullivan struck the winner last weekend for Carl Abbott's side on 47 minutes against Willand.

But the lowly visitors from Devon had a golden chance to go ahead on three minutes only for a poor connection to allow Robins keeper Lochlan Robertson to save comfortably.

Just two minutes later Evesham had a fine opportunity at the other end but Sullivan's tame effort was easily collected.

Sullivan made a better contact on eight minutes to demand a strong save from keeper Mike Searle after he was released by Matt Dodd's through-ball.

Midfielder Jordon Sangha directed a 20-yarder wide as the Robins pushed the tempo up.

Sullivan forced another stop from Searle following Ryan Paddock's accurate ball over the top and the lively forward then rifled a teasing ball into the box which Sangha could not turn home.

On the half-hour mark Sullivan saw yet another effort saved after tricky wing play from Dodd.

But a quiet spell before the interval saw Willand go into the break level.

The visitors started the second period brightly yet quickly fell behind to Sullivan's low effort past Searle from inside the box.

Dodd quickly went close to a second goal for the Robins and Sullivan fired just over.

But the game became scrappy with Rovers searching for an equaliser and only a Robertson save low to his right denied them two minutes from time.

However, Evesham held on for another valuable three points and nearly bagged a late second against last season's Western League Premier Division champions.

Substitute Harry Franklin's shot from outside the area took a deflection and wrong-footed Searle but went wide.

Sangha impressed for the Robins as did Bragoli in midfield with centre-halves Paddock and Brad Maslen-Jones keeping it tight at the back.

Evesham: Robertson, Roberts, Smikle, Paddock, Maslen-Jones, Sangha, Dodd (Tonge), Bragoli, Sullivan (Franklin), Chilton, Page (Morrison). Subs not used: Howard, O'Neill.

Attendance: 238.
