EVESHAM Fencing Club's Sue Uff secured a silver medal for Great Britain at the World Veterans Fencing Championships.
Uff, sporting a replacement hip, competed in Cairo, Egypt, in the 70-plus age group for women’s epee.
Having dropped two contests in the pool stage, she was seeded 10th.
Undaunted, Uff beat a higher-seeded German 10-9 in the last 16, a French woman 10-7 in the quarter finals and an Australian 10-8 in the semis before losing the final 10-9 to the number one seed from Finland.
Her success added to Evesham club-mate Ed Norton's medals at the European Masters Pentathlon Championships in Budapest, Hungary, during September when he claimed double gold and a silver.
The club meet on Tuesday evenings at The De Montfort School, Evesham, and new members are welcome regardless of age and experience.
