PERSHORE Hockey Club's men twice levelled through Jon Sprague in a 2-2 draw in West Midlands Division One.

An early error allowed opponents Old Hales the opening goal from close range.

But Pershore equalised when Russ Mcgettigan latched onto an aerial pass from Sprague to force a penalty corner which the latter converted.

However, another mistake allowed an easy tap-in for the hosts.

Pershore's Graham Handley twice went to the sin-bin for dangerous tackling in the second period but Old Hales also lost a player in similar circumstances.

Pressure led to a second short corner that again was converted by Sprague to secure the draw.

The seconds beat visitors University of Birmingham sixths 3-1 in South West Four with goals from Jamie Hughes, Gareth Rushton and Charlie Norton.

Pershore firsts host Edgbaston thirds on Saturday while the seconds visit Kidderminster.
