EVESHAM United went up to fourth in Southern League Division One South after they recorded a 2-0 win at bottom side Barnstaple Town.
The conditions were difficult in north Devon on Saturday but two goals in three minutes just after the half-hour mark proved enough for the visitors in the mud.
Adam Page got the first goal after finishing off a cross to reward a spell of pressure and then Lee Chilton scored from the penalty spot after a controversial award on 33 minutes.
The Robins now host sixth-placed Cirencester Town, who are six points behind with a game in hand, on Boxing Day at the Jubilee Stadium (3pm).
Carl Abbott’s side then head to Slimbridge in seventh position on New Year’s Day (3pm) and entertain Larkhall Athletic, who are eighth, on Saturday, January 4 (3pm).
The Robins will welcome higher-ranked Bromsgrove Sporting in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-finals at the Jubilee Stadium on Monday, February 3 (7.45pm).
Premier Division Central high-fliers Sporting beat Malvern Town 5-0 in the last eight.
EVESHAM: Brown, Roberts, Smikle, Paddock, Maslen-Jones, Sangha, Dodd, Bragoli, Sullivan, Chilton, Page. Subs: Staten, Chamberlain, O’Neill, Basford.
