WORCESTER City do not expect a report to be filed on the disturbances at the end of Wednesday’s FA Vase replay with Atherstone Town.

Security had been tightened on the back of ugly scenes and allegations of racism directed at City assistant manager Marlon Walters during Saturday's first fixture.

Adders players and staff celebrated a penalty shootout win by goading the home section having secured a last-eight berth via a penalty shootout.

It has been reported that Town manager Scott Rickards had returned to the dressing room, opting not to watch the shootout with his assistant Mike Fowler entering to tell him the good news straight after the success.

Footage shared by the Adders on social media shows many players and staff run to and gesture at City fans.

A drink was thrown from the home section with three fans climbing the barrier, one of which had to be held back by stewards.

A statement released by City today said all of them would be banned.

Worcester News:

City secretary Kevin Preece said his counterpart Dave Turner had immediately apologised for the reaction and that feedback from referee Andy Humphries suggested there was no plan to report any incidents on the basis of them being well controlled.

Preece said an Atherstone fan had also encroached onto the pitch early in the shootout but that fellow away fans helped to intervene and had been “a credit to their club”.

“An Atherstone supporter came on during the penalty shootout but he retreated back as soon as the stewards went towards him,” said Preece.

“He was berated by about six Atherstone fans, you could tell they were giving him a rollicking for doing it.

“There was nothing in the game and no problem between the benches. Atherstone’s secretary apologised for their players and said it shouldn’t have happened which we accepted.

“The Worcester fan was removed. We will review the CCTV and assess what can be seen.”

Preece added: “As soon as anyone tried to come on the stewards were there.

“Atherstone’s players were there for 10 seconds at the most, why they did that in the first place I don’t know but it happened. It soon got resolved and we accepted Atherstone’s apology.

“If that hadn’t happened we would have had 120 minutes and penalties with no problem, I don’t think any of our fans would have done anything at all if they hadn’t been goaded.

“The Atherstone supporters there were a credit to their club and we wish Scott and all at Atherstone good luck in the next round.”
