IT was a sobering evening for both Worcestershire clubs in the Hellenic League Division One on Tuesday as Pershore Town and Worcester Raiders suffered heavy defeats.
The Plums made the trip to Wiltshire to face Malmesbury Victoria and were well beaten 3-0, whilst the Raiders endured a chastening 5-1 thumping at league leaders Clanfield 85.
Worcester went into the clash on the back of three wins out of three but an own-goal and a Declan Shepperd strike saw them slip behind 2-0 in the first-half.
The visitors got one back before the break but the hosts turned it on after the interval and Zak Oliver's finish was added to by a brace from George Seacole as Clanfield secured an emphatic victory.
As for Pershore, they conceded a goal five minutes either side of half-time through Kyle Witt and Ben Patty before the latter scored again just after the hour mark to condemn The Plums to their second defeat of the league campaign.
Both sides sit on nine points in seventh and eighth place but only three points off those at the top of the table. Town have a game in hand on some of those above them whilst Raiders have two.
A night where both will have been rocked but still a long way to go.
Next up for Raiders: away vs Moreton Rangers
Next up for Pershore: away vs Shortwood United
