Evesham United's two match winning league run came to an end on Tuesday evening as they were beaten 3-1 at high-flying Cirencester Town.

Having won their last two in the Southern League Division South, The Robins were brought back down to earth as high-flying Cirencester cruised to victory.

Aidan Bennett gave the hosts a 26th-minute lead that Tom Anderson doubled five minutes before half-time to put the hosts in control.

Eight minutes after the restart, The Centurions made sure of the points with a third goal from Josh Nelmes, rendering Brandon Smalley`s late goal a mere consolation.

The result means Evesham stay in 14th place in the table, with a season record of six wins, three draws and ten defeats.

But there is no rest for Neil Hunt's men as they are in action on New Year's Day with a big bottom-of-the-table clash with Cinderford Town.

Cinderford are just two places behind Evesham but nine points separate the two.

Their game with Slimbridge mid-week was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch so Cinderford do have a game in hand on Evesham and a win would cut the gap further as they look to pull clear of the bottom three sides.

In other news, Evesham's New Years Eve party is still going ahead, from 7pm till late.

Their will be live music from band 'Tandem' and tickets are £5 per person.
