Having fallen 1-0 down after the first match, England needed a response and the Worcestershire all-rounder scored 31 runs from 24 balls as England set their hosts 172 to win.
They were propelled by Jason Roy taking 24 off Fabian Allen's 11th over, as 107 runs came in the second half of the innings.
Roy made 45, adding 61 with Moeen Ali, while Chris Jordan once again shone on the island of his birth with a cameo of 27.
The West Indies then crumbled from from 47 for two to 65 for seven in pursuit of 172 in their innings before a remarkable last over saw Akeal Hosein hit Saqib Mahmood for 28 runs, including three sixes off the last three balls meant they fell just a run short.
With the series level, the third game takes place on Wednesday.
