PERSHORE Town manager Danny Janes insists his side will not shy away from higher-level Redditch United when the two sides meet this evening in the semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

The Plums, who play at Step 6 of the non-league ladder, produced a huge shock in the quarter-final to come from 3-0 down in the final ten minutes before beating Step 3 Bromsgrove Sporting on penalties.

And now Janes’ is targetting another upset as his side look to reach the final.

“The game is a free hit just like the previous round against Bromsgrove Sporting, but we want to put on a performance and we want to win,” said Janes.

“Most teams would enter this game with the mind frame of just trying to be competitive and to get through the game, we want more than that and we believe in these players.

“I’m not naive, I know that if we don’t produce our maximum levels on the night Redditch can really hurt us, but there is no pressure on the players.

“The final result is on me as I am setting them up to be brave and to take the game to Redditch.

“We hope we can make the Pershore supporters proud as they are travelling over in fantastic numbers to cheers us on. The players and the management team will give it everything for them.”

120 Pershore supporters are expected to make the short trip to The Trico Stadium this evening as they hope for another memorable night under the lights.

Three levels separate the two sides but Pershore are flying in the Hellenic Division One having worked their way into the play-off picture.

His side will not deviate from their game and will look to tackle Redditch head on.

“It’s a monumental task and one which we are looking forward too,” added Janes.

“Players should thrive off the opportunity to try and match the standard of players they will come up against.

“Our approach won’t change, we will look to impose ourselves on Redditch - we will go toe to toe with them.”
