PERSHORE Town bounced back from a damaging 1-0 defeat at home to Littleton last weekend with a 5-0 thrashing of bottom side Bourton Rovers on Tuesday.

The defeat to Littleton left The Plums thinking there hopes of promotion were over but the big win means they are now two points off fifth placed Milton United, but have played a game more.

With four games left of the regular season, Pershore will need results to go their way but they did their job on Tuesday to just about stay in the hunt.

Sam Clark put the hosts ahead with a stunning strike from 25 yards and he bagged another to make it 2-0 at the break.

Roland Krol added a third before Clark completed his hat-trick and Scott Hammond added a fifth late on.

Before the game, Janes expressed how his side have still exceeded expectations this season, regardless of the outcome.

“We are a work in progress, when we came in I said we needed to finish the season strong and build for next season, we are doing more than that at the moment.

“I’m proud of the players, we have some how got ourselves with a slight chance of the play-offs, that was never possible when we first joined because of the points difference, the players have made it possible and they should take pride in that.”
