TWO defeats in four days has continued to raise fears that Evesham United could yet be dragged back into the relegation scrap in Southern League Division One.

A goal in each half from Ethan Mitchell gave league leaders Plymouth Parkway the win on Tuesday night and meant The Robins backed up their 1-0 defeat at Melksham Town on Saturday with another loss.

They have now gone six games without a win and with four games to play, they are just three points above the potential relegation play-off place.

Evesham stay in 14th position in the table and safety remains in their hands but they have back-to-back games against promotion play-off hopefuls AFC Totton and Winchester City coming up so they look to be right up against it.

Evesham made the trip to Plymouth on Tuesday night knowing it was going to be a big ask to get anything from the side who had already won nine games in a row.

Evesham did well to keep the hosts at bay but Plymouth began to apply the pressure towards the end of the half and hit the post twice in the 40th minute before they did eventually take the lead in stoppage time.

Evesham could not clear their lines properly and Mitchell poked home to produce the sucker punch right on the half-time whistle.

Again The Robins battled hard to keep it at 1-0 but with 15 minutes to play the game was settled as Mitchell nodded into the roof of the net from close range to seal the three points.
