PERSHORE Town sealed their place in the Hellenic Football League Division 1 play-offs after a nervy 2-0 win against now play-off rivals Hereford Pegasus.

The decisive moments came late on as Petar Tonchev and Aidan Clark both scored to send The Plums into the semi-final.

Pershore will now play Worcester Raiders at Sixways in the semi-final play-offs, with a date yet to be decided.

Pegasus already had their place in the play-offs secured but were competitive throughout and frustrated Pershore for large periods but The Plums found a way to cap off a brilliant second-half the season and now will have a chance to play for promotion.

The day started with the hosts knowing a win would confirm their spot in the semi-finals but with Cheltenham Saracens waiting in the wings should they slip up, the nerves were evident from the off.

It was a cagey half with little to no goalmouth action other than a half-volley at the back post from Aidan Clark that was blasted over the bar.

Pegasus had the better of possession and looked more controlled but did not create anything to trouble Eddie Cox in the Pershore goal.

The second-half started in a similar fashion and the away side should have taken the lead but their striker could not get his close range shot on target after a bit of a scramble in the box.

It had 0-0 written all over it but as like they have all season, The Plums found a way.

And it was left-back Cooke who provided that bit of quality with 15 minutes to go as he slid a precise ball in behind Pegasus and the Bulgarian Tonchev stayed cool to slot home.

And then, with time almost up, Clark provided the icing on the cake as he tucked home on the break to seal the deal.
