Evesham United secured their place in Step 4 as Kyle Belmonte’s last minute winner secured a dramatic 2-1 win over relegation rivals Cinderford Town.

Belmonte put The Robins ahead in the 17th minute but Ben Brooks equalised 20 seconds after coming onto the pitch in the second-half, which looked to have secured a point.

That result would have seen the fight to avoid the relegation play-off go down to the final day but Belmonte had other ideas and lifted the ball over the keeper in the 93rd minute to secure Evesham’s Southern League status.

Cinderford will now take that spot in the potential play-off, whilst Evesham have their midfield man to thank for keeping them away from danger.

Evesham started the day on 33 points, two clear of Cinderford who occupied the play-off spot with two games left to play.

But the 2-1 victory means they move five points clear and there were jubilant scenes at full-time amongst the away supporters who made the trip.
