MANAGER Mike Ford questioned his side's "drive and determination to be successful" after Evesham United saw their play-off hopes slip further away following Monday's 3-1 defeat at Cinderford.

Having deserved at least a point in the 1-0 defeat to Tavistock on Saturday, Evesham knew only a win would do at second-bottom Cinderford on Easter Monday.

But The Robins lacked any sort of quality and fell behind to a Michael Symons goal in the 34th minute.

Alfie Dunn equalised just after the hour but Felix Miles restored Cinderford's lead with 16 left on the clock before he struck again deep into injury time to make it three to condemn Evesham to a fifth league game without a win.

"I don't think there was much between the two teams today but our quality was so poor. Set-pieces, crosses and we became too rushed, we lost our composure," said Ford.

"We got ourselves back in it in the second-half to make it 1-1 but we lacked a lot of things.

"I felt in the first-half that we were just going through the motions, didn't impose ourselves on the game.

"I know the wind affected the game but they dealt with it and scored three goals so it's really, really disappointing. If we have ambitions to reach the play-offs then you have to come here (Cinderford) and win and we haven't.

"This has happened a lot this season. When questions have been asked of us as a team, we have come up short. In games we should win, we don't and in games that are very even, we also lose, so our ability to manage the game has probably been our Achilles heel all year.

"I know in that dressing room there are some good footballers. Whether we have the drive and determination to be successful, that is still a question I have to ask."

Evesham are now seven points off the play-off places but they do have two games in hand, but having not won a league game since early March, their form would suggest they are likely to miss out.
