AIDAN Clark's first-half hat-trick helped Pershore Town boss Lewis Marston to a second win in charge as they beat AFC Coventry Rangers 5-3 in an entertaining pre-season contest on Tuesday night.

Having beaten Coventry Sphinx 3-2 in Marston's debut as manager on Saturday, The Plums made it two from two on Tuesday.

Clark scored three times in the opening 45 minutes before goals from Josh Willis and Ben Johns wrapped up the win, even if they did concede three times to their lower-ranked opposition.

It does signify a good start to the pre-season preparations for Marston, who was trialing a number of players on Tuesday night, but the win over Coventry Sphinx was a more impressive result.

It was made that much more encouraging given Pershore only took 14 players to the University of Warwick for the evening contest.

Willis netted in the first half before James Baldwin and one of the trialists scored in the second to complete the victory over a strong Sphinx outfit.

Pershore continue their pre-season campaign this weekend with a trip to Hartpury University, a side that did the double over Pershore in the 2022-23 campaign.

But it is looking good for Pershore as they prepare for their first season back at Step 5 in the Hellenic Premier in the 23-24 campaign, where they will be hoping to reach the play-offs.
