JAMES Baldwin scored twice on Bank Holiday Monday as an inspired second-half performance from The Plums saw them thrash Hereford Pegasus at The KGD Stadium.

Sean Brain scored his fifth goal of the season to put Pershore ahead before Crawley Cox equalised for the hosts to leave the scores 1-1 at the break.

But the visitors were rampant in the second-half. After Baldwin fired them into the lead with his first of the afternoon, they never looked back and further goals from Josh Willis, Sean Cooke made it 4-1 before Baldwin wrapped it up with his second.

It means Lewis Marston's men have taken 11 points from 15 to begin their first season back at Step 5 and find themselves sitting in third place in the Hellenic League Premier table.

Pegasus have had a difficult start to the new season and had already suffered a 4-0 defeat to Worcester Raiders a couple of weeks ago.

And unfortunately for them it was a similar story when Pershore arrived.

The away side made a bright start and when Sam Clark received the ball on the half way line, he played a ball over the top to the in-form Brain who sloted home.

But they did not have it all their own way and Peggy equalised mid-way through the half when Cox finished low past his namesake Eddie Cox in the Pershore goal.

Despite being pegged back, Pershore made the best possible start after the interval and centre-half Jyrel Bojang picked out Baldwin in behind and the striker did not miss.

The turning point came towards the final quarter of the game when Bojang was brought down in the box, leading to Willis' successful penalty.

But in the aftermath of the goal, Pegasus keeper James Behan smashed the ball at a Pershore player and was sent off.

Marston's men then cruised for the remaining minutes and Cooke beat the new keeper at the near post with a low drive, before Baldwin again tucked home for a fifth.
