EVESHAM United survived having captain Charlie Wise sent off late on to hold Wimborne Town to a 0-0 draw in their Southern League Division One South encounter on Saturday.
The Robins remain winless this season but after back-to-back league defeats, they at least took a point from the clash.
But results elsewhere meant they did slip to the bottom of the table, with just four points from their opening seven matches.
The opening stages of the game were flat and it took until the 26th minute for the first shot on goal, but it was saved comfortably by Ross Flitney in the visiting goal.
Just under ten minutes later, Levi Steele was put through on goal one-on-one with Wimborne’s number one but he could not convert and that was about as close as either side came to a goal.
The second half started in a much brighter fashion and the first chance arose in the 46th minute when a lay-off from Steele allowed Amer Awadh to get into a shooting position but his effort sailed over the bar.
Evesham's hopes of winning the game then took a decisive knock when captain Wise was shown a second yellow card for bringing down Jack Lovell on the left-hand side of the box.
It then looked as if the away side had snatched all three points with five to play but the offside flag came to their rescue to rule out the goal.
Despite being a man up, Wimborne struggled to take advantage and in the end, both teams settled for a draw.
