Start Archery Week event brings clubs together

The nationwide initiative, backed by 2024 partners Kinetic and Avalon Archery, invites archery clubs across the UK to open their doors and inspire individuals of all ages and abilities to give the activity a go.

Offering a chance for participants and volunteers to win prizes from Kinetic and Avalon Archery, the week is also highlighting the mental health benefits of the sport, particularly how it can boost confidence, reduce stress, and increase mindfulness.

The sport offers fun and inclusive experiences for anyone eager to try something new; beginners or those who have never thought of wielding a bow and arrow are encouraged to get involved.

The weeklong event coincides well with the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, providing an opportunity to explore the inclusive sport before the competition begins.

Both children and adults are invited to partake in Start Archery Week, where participating clubs will hold their own events from May 4-12, welcoming locals for a taste of the archery experience.

Centred around providing an enriching experience for newcomers, participants are set to spend time with coaches who will guide them through the sport's elementary techniques.

Meanwhile, those attending a Start Archery Week event and signing up to the Start Archery newsletter stand a chance to win a pair of tickets to watch archery at the Olympic or Paralympic Games in Paris.

Jamie Harris, member of the Archery GB Paralympic Squad, who took up the sport at 14 years old, said: "Archery GB Paralympic Squad, who took up the sport at 14 years old. “Start Archery Week offers a great opportunity for people to have a go and appreciate how accessible the sport is – for everyone. It would be great to see more people taking up the sport and playing it regularly and getting to love it like I do."
