EVESHAM United earned a point on the road in a 1-1 draw against play-off hopefuls Wimborne Town.
Captain Amer Awadh drew first blood early on in the bout but saw his strike cancelled out by Joe Smith's late leveller.
Just five minutes in and Evesham took an early lead. The ball fell loose from a corner with Awadh on hand to strike quickly before anyone else could react, poking home from close in to send Mike Ford's side off to a dream start.
Wimborne would challenge from a corner of their own soon after however couldn't find the same result, heading over the bar.
Aaron Heap was causing the hosts issues down the right and nearly set Awadh up for his second when he broke free and pulled it back, only to see the effort fall narrowly wide of the far post.
Evesham continued to test Cam Plain in the Wimborne net. Levi Steele put it into the six-yard box just before the break but the keeper did well to race off his line and smother the ball before any Evesham players could convert.

Wimborne came agonisingly close to their opener early on in the second half. Will Fletcher jumped onto a loose ball in the area and rounded Alex Harris in The Robins' net.
He unleashed an effort from mere inches out but a scrambling Ioan Richards put his body on the line to just about keep the ball out of the net and clear.
However, they finally for their goal with 20 minutes to play.
Joe Smith beat Alex Harris to a ball in the air and headed past the keeper to even it up.
