EVESHAM United put an end to their five-game winless streak with a dominating display over Dorchester Town.

The Robins got off to a perfect start in front of the 280 home and away fans with a well executed attack, ending with Owen Foye slotting the ball into the bottom right corner from the left side of the goalposts – giving his side an early one-goal advantage over the visitors.

With the home side in control of the game early, it seemed as if the only way Dorchester would get a chance would be from an Evesham mistake – which came just four minutes after the opening goal.

A poor pass between the Evesham defenders allowed Dorchester’s Joe Parker to steal the ball and calmly finish past the home sides goalkeeper, earning his side a goal to even up the contest.

Both sides slowed down the tempo after such a hectic start, with Dorchester leading the possession game going into half time.

After 30 minutes of cagey and safe football, the Evesham fans were hoping for a more entertaining and clinical second half to get their side back to winning ways.

As if the Robins had listened to their fans’ wishes, the home side came out with a new-found confidence – ruthlessly attacking and pressing the Dorchester goal.

With 20 minutes now gone after the second half start, Evesham got what they deserved – after a good save from Gerard Benfield, Ethan Patterson guided in a header from the resulting corner giving the home side a vital 2-1 lead.

However Dorchester weren’t ready to lose this tie, regaining their focus in an attempt to equal up the game for a second time.

After multiple saves from captain Alex Harris, keeping the home side up, substitute Levi Steele got on the end of a dangerous cross within two minutes of being brought on to give his side a two goal advantage against the run of play.

Playing like he had a point to prove, Steele helped press the Dorchester goalkeeper in the 89th minute – and after teammate Ethan Dunbar forced an error and struck the post, the Robins’ number nine pounced on the rebound to secure his second of the game… and Evesham’s first win in five matches.

The home side now sit 10th in the Southern Premier South Division and turn their focus onto a struggling Bracknell Town next Tuesday (November 25).

Dorchester Town stay in 19th after their sixth game in a row without a win.
