Gosport nearly made a breakthrough after eight minutes but a shot was blocked well by Liam Hutt before Ethan Taylor headed over the crossbar.

Evesham then had a scare in the 11th minute when a player went down with a knock but was able to continue after a stoppage before Trevor Caborn was just off target for the home side.

Half chances continued with Levi Steele and Amer Awadh blasting over the crossbar either side of the 30-minute mark; Rafa Ramos stabbed wide from ten yards following a delicious cross soon after.

The striker however didn’t miss a second opportunity in stoppage time when he was played through and calmly placed home past the keeper.

The hosts appeared buoyed upon the second half restart and saw Bradley Tarbuck fire straight at Alex Harris with a half-volley, while Ramos sliced wide after 55 minutes from a tight angle.

A lovely cross was narrowly missed by two Gosport attackers moments later and Taylor had a low drive comfortably by the diving Evesham shot stopper.

Substitutions followed across both teams as Gosport saw Michael Fernandes run through and then fire wide before a lengthy delay, which was ended by a scuffle that resulted in three bookings.
