GETTING to an estimated 45- point survival target in the Zamaretto League Premier Division is Evesham United manager Paul West’s immediate priority, starting at relegation-threatened Halesowen Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).

The Robins bounced back from a 5-0 defeat to Brackley Town in their previous clash to beat Didcot Town 3-0 to make it six wins from their last seven games.

This fine run has seen United climb to 12th on 31 points.

However, West has urged his side to guarantee avoiding the drop before they even look towards the play-off places.

But he insists Saturday’s derby trip to second-from-bottom Halesowen will prove a tough test for his side and warned against any complacency.

This clash will be followed up by a home tie with second-placed Salisbury City on Tuesday night (ko 7.45pm).

However, this game may have to be rearranged if a midweek replay is needed, as Salisbury travel to Woking in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.

United have no fresh injury worries for their trip to face the Yeltz with defender Steve Luckett still out with a knee injury.

However, central midfielder Neil Barnfield may have left United by Saturday after Leamingtion made an approach earlier this week.

West said: “Halesowen are fighting for their lives, they are not going to be rolling over for us.

“It’s going to be a tough game on Saturday.

“We need to keep building the momentum and go there with a positive attitude. It’s important that we don’t start believing the hype about us.

“January was a super month for us. We need to keep our feet on the ground and not get too carried away. We were in Halesowen’s position four weeks ago. There is not a lot between the teams in this league.

“We can’t afford to get complacent and we still have a lot of work to do.

“We need to get to the 45-point marker as soon as we can. That seems to be the cut off for teams who avoid going down.

“If we get these points on the board as soon as we can, we can then start to look at other things.”
