EVESHAM United look to extend their unbeaten record to seven games with victory over lowly Slimbridge at the Jubilee Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

The Robins' run has lifted them to fourth in Southern League Division One West but home wins have proved tricky this season.

They were held 3-3 at the Jubilee by Swindon Supermarine in a midweek thriller which has added to three other draws and four defeats at headquarters in the league.

Despite being fourth from bottom, Slimbridge have been much stronger on their travels with four wins and four draws.

Evesham boss Paul Collicutt revealed how the nip-and-tuck nature of the division had made last Saturday’s dogged 1-0 home win over Paulton Rovers all the more sweet.

With the entire top half involved in the promotion race, United’s manager insists his troops can ill-afford any slips.

“When you come out of the game situation and hear how some of the other teams got on you soon realise how good the result was,” said Collicutt.

“You have to carry it on though. Looking at the likes of Taunton, Salisbury and Yate who seem to have come from nowhere, teams that have managed to put together runs have got themselves into good positions.

“Only two or three points covers a lot of positions so a win can push you up a fair bit but a defeat can see you drop four or five places.

“There are a lot of teams chasing these play-off spots and it will be a very interesting and exciting time between now and the end of the season.”
