From then on both teams scored freely but a late play put Cardiff 41-38 ahead.

In the final quarter Wolves tired late on which allowed Cardiff to secure victory.

The top scorer was Worcester's Ollie Lewis with 18 points.

Wolves coach Harry Smith said: “The game showcased one of the team’s strongest performances of the season.

"Offensively and defensively the team came together as a unit.

"Everyone stepped up to the occasion. It was great to see every player making an impact.

"All I ask of my players is they put 110 per cent of effort in and leave nothing on court.

"I most certainly think we did that. As bitter as this defeat may be we have to pick ourselves up and move on to the next game.”

Wolves visit Thames Valley Kings at Kennet Leisure Centre, Thatcham, on Saturday, March 23.
