HEAD coach Rory Duncan hopes homegrown ace Ted Hill will get another opportunity to represent his country as England look set to announce their Six Nations squad tomorrow.

Hill, 19, was left stunned when he was called up by national boss Eddie Jones for the autumn internationals and went on to make his debut against Japan.

After his superb start to the season Hill has remained a key figure in Worcester Warriors’ back-row and was reportedly among more than 40 players to have attended an England meeting earlier this month.

“As far as I am aware there was a meeting,” Duncan said.

“I don’t know who went but I should imagine those that have been involved in the squad before like Ted, Nick (Schonert) and Ben (Te’o) were there.”

Hill who marked his Gallagher Premiership bow with a match-winning try at Leicester Tigers in September has made 13 appearances for Worcester this term.

The tough-tackling back rower starred in Warriors’ 20-18 victory at Ospreys in the European Challenge Cup last Saturday.

“Ted has done a great job for us this season,” Duncan said.

“He has been playing for us week in week out.

“A lot of guys have had a break but Ted has kept going.

“It would be great to see him get another opportunity to play for England.”

Uncapped prop Nick Schonert has struggled with an issue with his sternoclavicular joint in recent weeks and has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Stade Francais (1pm).

But Duncan said the 27-year-old’s absence was a “precaution” as Schonert aims to win his first England cap.

“Nick is getting on well. He is not contact fit yet but he will be over the next week or so,” Duncan said.

“If we wanted to push him through we could but we have just decided not to take the risk.”

Te’o, 31, who has played in Warriors’ past three games is expected to be selected by Jones ahead of the Six Nations which kicks off in early February.

Duncan added: “I really do hope we get a few guys in that squad.

“We have got a couple of players who have been knocking on the door.

“I believe it would be a good experience and a good stepping stone for a couple of our youngsters.”
