HARLEQUINS hooker Max Crumpton has been banned for three weeks after striking Worcester Warriors captain Gerrit-Jan van Velze’s head.

Crumpton was cited following Quins’ 47-33 Gallagher Premiership victory over Warriors at The Stoop on Saturday.

The 26-year-old accepted the charge of “punching or striking” van Velze in the first half at a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday.

He is free to return to action on March 12.

Panel chair Sean Enright said: “The panel were mandated to go in at mid-range due to the contact with the head. They agreed that the player deserved the full mitigation available due to his guilty plea, clean record and his remorse shown.”
