OLLIE Lawrence wants his hat-trick to inspire “a string of games” as he hunts for a Premiership shirt at Warriors.

The emerging centre ran in his treble during an 11-minute flurry late in the first half against Enisei-STM on Saturday.

It signalled a turnaround following a sticky start for Worcester, bringing up a bonus point by half-time in what turned out to be a 66-10 triumph.

And with league starters unlikely to feature in Friday’s decisive European Challenge Cup Pool One finale at home to Castres (8pm), Lawrence wants more action in a bid to banish memory of injury troubles and push the established stars.

“I am just putting my best foot forward,” said Lawrence.

“I want to keep playing week in week out and if I can put in performances that please Solly (director of rugby Alan Solomons) and we get the results we want, hopefully I can push to play.

“There are a lot of young players pushing through and putting their names forward to be in contention for selection.

“If we keep playing well, we push the boys ahead of us keep improving and when you get your chance you just have to make sure you take it with both hands.

“It is getting confidence and trusting your ankle again, it is a bit niggly at times but hopefully I can move forward with a string of games now.

“The players above me like Ashley Beck, Millsy (Ryan Mills) and Swys (Francois Venter), they speak to me, guide and mentor me with little bits to work on. They really help me with things like that.

“I am just doing whatever I can to stay with them but obviously you want to push to play.

“They are helping me and I am helping them, training and playing as well as I can will push them as well.

“It is good to see the young boys coming through, we want to build something here where young lads are going to be playing first-team rugby week in week out.

“Solly is getting a good group together now and trusting us.”

Despite his treble, Lawrence acknowledged the first 20 minutes had been no walk in the park against Enisei.

“We probably tried offloads instead of getting through them early doors, we needed to go again, come together and think about how to approach the game,” he added.

“Our focus in the week was to play with tempo and be clinical but we didn’t do that as much as we wanted to, we overcomplicated things a few times.

“We always knew they would come all guns blazing from the start and they are big boys, it was about fronting up for us.

"We couldn’t let them get on the front foot physically so we had to step up and make sure we got in our shots. I think we did that which is a positive to take from the game.”
