THE winners of an Evesham pub’s battle of the bands contest will return to the scene of their victory tomorrow night.

Midlands-based nine piece ska band, Stained Glass Alice, are returning to the Railway Hotel, High Street, Evesham, for the first time since winning the music competition, which also raised money for charity, in August.

The band battled its way through several rounds of judges’ decisions and audience participation across the summer to emerge victorious and take home the £1,250 prize.

The band plays a number of classic ska cover songs from such bands as Madness, The Specials and Bad Manners as well playing their own arrangements of popular songs and a whole host of original material.

They will be hoping to improve their reputation for catchy brass melodies, fast beats and getting the audience’s feet moving.

Trombone player Simon Wilkins said it would be great to be back in Evesham. “We had such a fantastic time at the Railway Hotel back in August that we are really keen to give a repeat performance, this time being able to play to the audience for longer and giving anyone who missed the battle of the bands final another chance to see us.

We can’t wait.”

Stained Glass Alice will be playing tomorrow evening with the doors opening at 7.30pm.
