A SHORT trip along the High Street will be enough to prove that colour is plentiful, whether it be in one solid block or thick stripes of colour.

This provides us with the perfect chance to try out a bit of colour blocking in our make up, too.

Colour blocking involves putting two or more block colours together to inject a splash of variety and life into your look. This can be as simple as choosing two different colours for the eyelids, or the slightly trickier option of choosing two different colours for the lips. Bobbi Brown can help you with the eyeshadow; the beautiful shade of metallic Lavender, a beautiful icy pink, is perfect for blocking with the blue-green metallic Mint. However, if you want to go for something really daring, take a look at 17s Solo Eyeshadow collection. Viva Diva blue is a stunning bright shade that would be beautifully blocked with Statuesque Pink or a blissful bright green, for £3.89 each available from Boots.

Even on a rainy day you can still bring the sunshine to you. For £2.99, the dazzling Cyan Blue of Barry M's nail polish goes down a Summer storm with GOSH's Tropical Pink lipstick, for £6.49 from Superdrug. But you don't have to stick to shades that immediately go together. Experiment and test colours out yourself to see what brings out the best in you.

Spice up the warm evening with some saucy shades. Revlon's Just Bitten Lipstain and Balm provides various shades to play with; try daubing the top lip with Passion pink and the bottom with luscious Flame and see how they hit it off, for £7.99 each, also available from Boots.

So whether stripes or solid colours are your scene, colour blocking will be sure to go with whatever you choose to wear this Summer. Whether the sun shines or not.
