COUNTY residents are being urged to get on their bike and raise money for the British Heart Foundation by signing up for its annual Worcestershire Bike Ride.

Last year’s event raised more than £26,000 to help the BHF to invest in lifesaving research work and vital prevention and care programmes.

The foundation’s events organiser Hannah Townsend said: “The bike ride attracted more than 500 people taking part last year and this year we hope the event will be even bigger and better and raise a massive £38,000 for the BHF.”

This year’s event is on Sunday, April 28, starting from Worcester Warriors’ Sixways stadium.

“With routes of 17, 30 and 50 miles to choose from, it is a great day out for all, whether regular cyclists or for people who want to set themselves a challenge and help us as the nation’s heart charity,” said Ms Townsend.

Registration for the event is now open at bhf.org.uk/ worcestershire.
