A TODDLER who was fighting leukaemia has lost his brave battle against the illness.
Two-year-old Charlie Harris-Beard died at Birmingham Children’s Hospital at 2.04pm today.
The parents of Charlie Harris-Beard announced on twitter: “Heaven gained another angel today as our little SOLDIER CHARLES JOSEPH HARRIS-BEARD peacefully passed away.”
He was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia on Easter Sunday, 2011 but returned home from hospital in January, 2012, following a successful bone marrow transplant using an umbilical cord.
But in November last year he was given just weeks to live after test results revealed his cancer had returned.
His sister wrote on the facebook page ‘Help Save Baby Charlie Harris-Beard’: “Hello everyone it's Charlie big sister Ellie Louuise minutes ago I had to sit with my mom dad family and Charlie say goodbye as the angles came down!! Thank you for everyone thought and prays meant alot♥♥”
The youngster has captured hearts around the world, with more than 44,000 friends on the facebook page Help save Baby Charlie Harris - Beard and 3,829 followers on twitter. Please leave tributes to Charlie.
