MORE than a million pounds is set to be spent on improving traffic flow along a busy Vale road.

Work to improve the A46 at Evesham and its junction with the M5 near Tewkesbury will be carried out next year, according to West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.

She said the government investment, totalling £1.65 million here in Worcestershire, is part of a nationwide programme to improve road safety and reduce congestion, worth almost £100 million.

“The A46 carries a lot of traffic to and from the M5 and this project will help the local economy by improving travel times,” said the Conservative MP.

Worcestershire County Council leader Adrian Hardman said he was “delighted”

at the news, particularly the fact improvements will be made to the Aston Cross junction.

“It will improve journey times for the people of the Bredon division who work in north Gloucestershire, and queue at these lights,” he said.
