SECOND World War veterans across Worcestershire are being asked to share their experiences on tape to stop an important part of British history being forgotten.

Their words will be incorporated into a film and when it is finished it will be screened across the county before Remembrance Day. The screenings will take place in public halls, work places, schools, colleges, museums and churches as well as being available online.

The aim of the project, which has been backed by Worcestershire County Council, is to raise awareness of the elderly ex- Armed Forces personnel in our midst and recognise their contributions and sacrifices.

Rob Adams, chairman of Worcestershire County Council and the Covenant Working Group, said: “For many, the Second World War has slipped into history. This project will provide a vehicle to remind everyone but especially the young, what sacrifices, bravery and courage our local ex-servicemen displayed during that time.”

The project, funded through an Armed Forces Community Covenant grant of £9,500, is being delivered by local ex-BBC programme maker Mike Jackson.
