I WONDER whether Journal readers realise that from October 1, 2013, twin-axle trailers (of any size) will not be allowed access to Worcestershire County Council household recycling centres?
I can only speculate that one of the reasons for this change of policy is that the council is anxious to prevent illegal disposal of business waste.
However, I feel that genuine users are being unfairly penalised.
As a council tax payer, I take exception to being denied access to the recycling centre using my current trailer.
I have used this twin-axle trailer at Hill and Moor for many years for the disposal of domestic waste.
It is interesting to note that the CVT permit scheme allows both vans and pick-ups up to a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes to use this facility.
The gross weight of my car/trailer is less than 3.5 tonnes, so why penalise me?
I fail to understand the reasoning behind this illogical policy and have written to the county council requesting that the policy be reviewed and that common sense be applied.
I would encourage all readers who are similarly affected to do likewise.
