The author of Crap Towns in the UK, Sam Jordison, seems to equate the Chipping Norton ‘set’ with the town, based on information of dubious provenance and little research.
He maligns the people of this independent-minded, egalitarian place by peddling the sort of notion that only exists in the overheated imagination of those who have never set foot in the town.
Chipping Norton, while struggling to cope with the current economic strictures like similar market towns, is nevertheless a very pleasant place in which to live.
I count myself fortunate to be living here.
