A DRIVER who received a fine from a car park attendant has been left “fuming” and says the ticket was unfair.

Lynne Burkert, of Drinkwater Lane, Bretforton, was shocked to receive a fine issued for exceeding the 90-minute stay at Lidl supermarket, Broadway Road, Evesham, on October 18.

She is unhappy as she entered the car park on two occasions after first forgetting her parking money, but was given the ticket as the attendant took her time in the car park from the first time she entered.

She says she had been in the car park for 40 minutes when the warden, working for Euro Car Parks – the company which administers the parking scheme on behalf of Lidl – issued the ticket.

Mrs Burkert said: “The attendant said he saw me pull in and leave and then saw me come back later. But he said the machine does it [the ticket].

But the ticket is handwritten.”

Husband Gordon said: “My wife drove into the Lidl car park at 10.57am.

She stopped very briefly in a parking bay only to find her usual £1 coin was not there.

“She arrived back in the Lidl car park at about 12.30pm. She paid for her goods at 13.08pm, as per till receipts.”

The couple have been left extremely annoyed.

“I was absolutely fuming,” said Mrs Burkert.

“I think it is stupid and people really do need to know about it. There must be loads of people [affected by this].”

The couple have appealed against the ticket.

A spokesman for Lidl said: “A number of Lidl UK car parks have parking restrictions and measures in place to ensure that spaces are available for Lidl customers.

“A parking charge notice may be issued should customers not comply with these restrictions.

However we apologise should this customer have received a notice when visiting and shopping in this store.”
