THANK you to Wychavon District Council. For the first time in 17 years, the bin collectors did not collect our bin, which I placed in the same spot I always have the night before.

As it is another 14 days before the bin is collected again, we rang the council offices to get it sorted.

We thought it would be collected the next day and, although initially told it would, were later told it had not been left out – surely our mistake?

We told them that a neighbour had seen it in its normal place ready for collection and assumed that would suffice.

But no – our neighbour was mistaken. The binmen say it wasn’t, therefore it can’t have been there.

They, after all, don’t make mistakes.

Some might say the customer is always right, some might say don’t complain, get back in your box and be a good citizen.

But as I have always paid my taxes, know right from wrong and have never been called a liar ‘officially’ before, I need to get this one off my chest.

Credit for this letter must be extended to Councillor John Smith who, despite his best efforts in trying to sort this out for us, was also “refused”.
