CHIPPING Campden’s new Scuttlebrook Queen has been crowned following a party at the Lygon Arms.

Hannah Pritchard, aged 14, of Chipping Campden School, beat off stiff competition from seven other girls to claim the title on February 15.

Her attendants are Millie Smith, 11, Chloe Butlin, 9, Martha Robinson, 7, and Alice Smith, 8, who are students at St James CofE Primary School and St Catharine’s Primary Schools.

The page is Oliver Watts, who attends St James CofE Primary School, and is the third brother in his family to be chosen for the position.

Sally Potter, chairman's wife, said: "It was very well attended. We had seven girls go in for the queen which is very good. I think there hasn't been that many for quite a few years.

"It seems to be popular still. It was a good evening and we had a disco, dancing a lots of games."

Now in its 69th year, the Scuttlebrook Wake is taking place on Saturday, May 31, traditionally the day after the Cotswold Olimpicks.

Hannah, who will be crowned by reining queen Katie Pritchard, will parade with her entourage through the town from Littleworth to the square to start the festivities.
