THE latest winner of Evesham's YES loyalty card scheme thought she was the victim of an April Fools joke when she was told she'd won the monthly jackpot.
Diana Turner, of Laburnum Road, Evesham, took some convincing when she was contacted by the Evesham Market Town Partnership, which organises the scheme.
But she was delighted when she realised she had in fact scooped the £1,000 shopping vouchers after collecting all her stamps from local shops.
"I am delighted to have won, as I never win anything," she said. "I received the phone call on April 1 but I did think it was an April Fools joke at first."
She is now planning on spend some of the money on new spectacles as her existing ones are broken and a new oven.
All winners now have until the end of this month (Wednesday, April 30) to spend their winnings in the 130 plus participating shops in Evesham.
After a successful 18 months, the YES loyalty card scheme, which was funded by Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon District Council and the Evesham Market Town Partnership to support traders through the closure of Evesham's Abbey Bridge, ends this month with a total £20,000 won by local people and spent in the town.
